Anderson goals.....

So this past week we did really good with our goal of having morning prayer! I used sticky notes on my phone and one on Cody's dresser to help us! We slipped up one time at mom and dad's....I forgot my sticky notes :( Writing it down somewhere really helps us!

We are going to do this same goal of morning prayer for a few more weeks until it is a real habit :) We are also going to attempt family scripture study. We go through phases where we do really good and then stop....and then really good and then stop.... I want to break this bad habit!! I think we are going to read the conference ensign together to start out!

Good look with everyone's goals this week! I know we can do this! I really really just feel strongly that strengthening ourselves and our families will really help us reach dad....even if it's just our examples of how we LIVE what we believe. We can bring the spirit into his life by how we live. More than anything I want to be together forever as a family. We can't help anyone else until we help ourselves :) I love you guys so so much!

The Perserverance Trail

The Perserverance Trail is a historic mining area.

Along the first part of the trial the trees were so thick!

This is some kind of prickly plant. You have to watch what you grab when you grab for a branch!

To the left is some old mining equiptment.

This is the beginning of an old gold mine.

Here is what remains of an avalanche that fell sometime this winter.

Here is a beautiful waterfall. The little pools are soooo blue! It was really awesome!

Sunny Day at the Shrine of St. Theresa

Now all the snow is melted and you can see all the bright geen moss at the Shrine.
You can't really see him, but there is a sea otter in the water. He was so cool! He came right in front of us, but I could't grab the camera quick enough!

You can see the head of a sea lion that was swimming by. There were tons of them out there, but I couldn't seem to get a good picture

Herbert Glacier Trail

You can't see it very well, but all along this section of the trail were little trickles of water coming down the rocks.

We had our lunch here along this little stream in the valley in front of the Herbert Glacier. We even tried to build a little fire to dry out Cody's socks... but we were unsuccessful! But it was fun!

Most of the trail was through the woods. Everything is covered in this bright green moss. The picture can't even do it justice, it was so sweet!

Snow Day at Mendenhall

This is back in February after a big snow day. The lake was still frozen over to walk out on, but the snow was so deep, we didn't want to trek all the way up to the face of the glacier. I have never seen this much snow before, so it was pretty cool!

Shrine of Saint Therese and Douglas Island

This is the island where the Shrine of St. Therese is built. This is a bridge made of rocks where people can walk out to the island (but for now its covered in snow!) From here you can't even see that there is a church out there.
This is the Shrine of St. Therese and a church built on this little island.

The island behind us is a few miles away. The perception of distance is crazy out on the water!
It was low tide so we climbed down on the rocks on the island behind the church. We sat on the rocks for at least an hour watching the sea lions swim by! We also saw two whales, but they were about two miles away! We couldn't see them too well this time, but it was still awesome!

If you enlarge this picture, you can see the house that we rent our apartment from. It is the last house on the right! We live on the bottom, but we still have an amazing view with a porch and lots of windows. The houses on Douglas face the Gastineau Channel.

We took this picture from the bridge that connects downtown Juneau to Douglas Island where we live. On a clear day, this view is gorgeous or in when the sun is rising or setting! We live on the side of the mountain to the right.
